Waiting For All The Poor People to Die

You lost me when you began the vandalism, when you looted—
You have every right to protest—ICE is raiding elementary schools—but when you resort to violence, to theft, you are playing into Trump’s hands.
You are no longer adding your voice to a noble cause, you are a criminal.
So keep up the protests but keep it peaceful. Is it wrong to throw back a tear gas canister?
Were you in a group that was violent or peaceful? You can answer your own question.
Should you block traffic? Not traffic—that’s other working people trying to get around---but access to detention centers maybe.
Nearly all of us have ancestors that immigrated to the United States, my European ones did.
Not all of those ancestors “went through a legal process” like going through Ellis Island. I’m not sure mine did.
My point is, just because people come to this country illegally doesn’t make them a detriment to our society.
On the contrary, most come to this country to work hard and send money back to their families.
They do the jobs we don’t want to do, hard jobs like landscaping in Phoenix and agriculture.
Yes, they came here illegally and technically that is wrong, but in the end the majority of these people are positive additions to our soceity.
Yes, some are criminals. Those people should definitely be collected by ICE and DHS and deported.
This situation is another example of wealthy people treating working class people like garbage. They are cutting our means of education, federal funding for a wide array of programs, and rounding up fellow working class people who came to this country for an opportunity. Most of us immigrated to this country. My Irish ancestors came here because of the way they were mistreated by the (wealthy) English landowners. They came to the United States and were discriminated against. So, thinking of how my white ancestors were treated I feel for the people of color being rounded up and sent to detention centers. We’re all poor people, relatively speaking. If you make less than a quarter million a year in this country, you are a working person. I don’t care if you’re Progressive or MAGA, they do not give a fuck about you.
We’re rounding up these illegals for you!
No, follow the money. These people, the people currently running this country, do not actually give a fuck about illegal aliens.
Think about all the money that is being made: You need vehicles. You need weapons and supplies. Detention centers need to be built or retrofitted. Companies to provide staff including security personell. On and on and on.
Follow the money, who is getting obscenely rich from this?
In our society, things only happen because they will make wealthy people even wealthier.
Despite the flippant title of this blog, I don’t think the wealthy are waiting for the poor people to die.
They want us alive, to serve them food, to buy their gasoline and pay high interest on the credit cards they issue. To buy $75,000 pickup trucks we don’t need. To deliver Amazon packages to the gates outside their homes. To do security in their exclusive communities.
This applies to all of us: MAGA, Progressive, folks like me who are in the center, and the illegal alien just trying to better their life—like my ancestors from Great Britain did.
We’re all working people, all—relatively speaking—poor people—
And we need to stop pointing fingers at each other and join up against the true adversary: The people who would cut the Department of Education, who want to gut Medicaid and other programs that help the unfortunate.
The day is coming, I believe that. A lot of the people who voted for the guy in the White House come from poor states, states that depend on Federal funding for a wide variety of programs.
A lot of people who are currently in lockstep with MAGA’s “ideals” are going to take a hit in their bottom line, their lives will be effected—
And they will be pissed off. And they will vote accordingly.
I’m just hoping more Democrats grow a spine and some cajones and step up.
You have every right to your outrage, we live in outrageous times. Just remember that if you resort to violence, that is what They want: An excuse to deploy forces in our cities that are, let’s be real, illegal. Don’t play into their hands, be smart, and keep believing in a more positive future.
