America First or America Worst

Half the country hates Joe Biden. Go on line, read the articles about what the President is proposing, and then check out the comments related to the article if you enjoy venom:

He’s ruining this country!

We need to get rid of that Socialist/Communist!

How are we going to pay for all this??

The last one is a valid question and the answer is obvious: Higher taxes. This infuriates the anti-Biden crowd:

Why should I have to pay for this?

Everyone expects something for free!

The irony of these viewpoints is that these viewpoints of concern are voiced by people who have joined up with Trump’s “America First” platform, a platform geared towards promoting the exceptionalism of the United States. This piece is not about whether such a view is right or wrong, it’s about the conflict between the aspirations of the “America First” people and their actions.

If the United States is going to continue being a great nation, we are going to have to invest in our future: We need to spend money on infrastructure and we also need to help people attend college. Who is going to pay for all this??

In part, the people who benefit from it: It’s simple logic that if someone is making more (because they have an education) they are paying higher taxes. We could also create a program where if you get free college, you agree to pay a higher tax rate than people not in such a program—

I’m just going to be honest with you, I am triggered by the notion that helping someone getting education is a bad thing.

My taxes are going to be higher!

And these people want the United States to be the greatest nation on earth—America First. The thing is, unless we help our populous become educated we will continue falling back until it’s America Worst.
