The Story So Far

Izaak David Diggs had an unusual childhood in one of the most beautiful parts of California. His parents divorced when he was eight and he was taken to a remote castle on top of a hill. In the winter, the storms would bring hundred mile an hour winds that sounded like insane, supernatural creatures cutting figures through the sky. Often, the power was knocked out for days at a time. In the summer the adults would drink wine and shoot fireworks at each other over the dry grass. The boy would be among them and yet separate; watching, filing memories and observations away.

Largely alone, Izaak read or pored over maps constantly. Like many solitary children he created imaginary friends to keep him company as he roamed the grounds surrounding the castle. Eventually his imaginary friends made their way onto paper and Izaak’s verbal narratives became stories.

After high school he left the castle for the world of malls and office jobs and apartment complexes.

The real world, full of people and activity and social norms.

Izaak still spent most of his time alone writing stories or music. Employment was a necessary evil, a pantomime to act out for eight hours. Like the boy on the hill he continued to read and write on a daily basis, learning more with each book he consumed or each keystroke made by his thin fingers. Days became months became years.

Despite the passage of time Izaak is still that boy wandering the grounds of the castle, talking to his imaginary friends.

A top student of Chuck Palahniuk's, Izaak currently has sixteen books available on Amazon ranging from fiction to non fiction to song lyrics. When not writing he is exploring the deserts west of the Rocky Mountains, creating music, or reading two or three books at a time.
